Jeff Bezos is assembling a team to develop technology that will enable humans to become immortal. The report on this was published by The Byte.
The startup, called Alto Labs was launched in 2021 and is currently led by Hal Barron, formerly the chief scientific officer at GlaxoSmithKline.
Aside from Barron, Alto Labs has also hired Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in medicine for his work in stem cell research, and Jennifer Doudna, co-winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize in chemistry for helping develop CRISPR.
Editor’s Note: Clearly, a new phase in human experimentation is beginning [also see NEW CRISPR BREAKTHROUGH CAN TURN GENES ON AND OFF, STUDY: GENE EDITING NOT AS HARMLESS AS YOU THINK, HOW BIOHACKING IS CHANGING HUMAN NATURE, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HUMAN IN THE FACE OF GENE EDITING?].
We encourage you to read the article THE ETHICAL CONSEQUENCES OF IMMORTALITY TECHNOLOGY to get the ethical consequences and the implications of the technologies that will be developed by Alto Labs.
