In it, Ward discusses the many paths to human immortality afforded to us by modern technology. For this article, however, Ward focuses on the 2045 movement which offers four avenues to attain human immortality.

• Avatar A is a robotic copy of a human body that can be controlled remotely using brain-computer interference. This was slated for 2015 to 2020 and has already been achieved.

Editor’s Note: Even though this article was years ago, we are now seeing the acceleration towards the goals of the 2045 movement. We are also seeing that the timeline they presented in the article was not really chronological. Instead, research on all four is being done simultaneously.

The question now is not: “Can we create immortality” but rather, “Is it possible to transfer consciousness to another body”?
