Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales will launch a new social media platform called WT: Social. The playform was designed to rival Facebook and Twitter, but its business model is different. Instead of funding it with advertising, it will be funded through community donations. Wales says that WT: Social was not designed to be addictive, but rather, to add meaningful value to the lives of its users.
WT: Social was launched in October 2019. It has more than 179,000 users as of writing.
