The struggle for a free internet is equivalent to the struggle for a just and equitable society. Securing a legislative solution to net neutrality is ensuring that citizens will be able to openly share and access the information they want, when they want it. In 2018, the Internet Society convened an ideologically diverse group of experts to develop a baseline for creating an open internet, at least in the United States. The following article offers an overview of the process, in the hope of guiding other countries in creating their own net neutrality laws.
