In this article for Towards Data Science, author Jeremy Owens explores the idea of conscious AI, and whether it is possible to create it. Owens says that from a purely computational perspective, it will only be a matter of time before AI developers are able to reconstruct a brain necessary for consciousness to exist. Owens also asks the important question of whether we should actually create a conscious AI, and proceeds to explain the issues that will arise out of this technology.
