1 min readCompulsory moral bioenhancement should be covert

The following is a 2018 article published written by Parker Crutchfield who argues that if bioenhancement will become compulsory, then its administration should be covert.

Crutchfield says: “it is morally preferable for compulsory moral bioenhancement to be administered without the recipients knowing that they are receiving the enhancement.” He adds, “a covert compulsory program promotes values such as liberty, utility, equality, and autonomy better than an overt program does”.

Crutchfield also says that compulsory bioenhancement, “because as cognitive enhancement makes causing ultimate harm more accessible to nefarious moral agents, ultimate harm is much more likely, unless everyone is enhanced.”

Editor’s Note: Whoever thought that our modern society would ever come to a point “ethicists” would promote the use of covert methods to impede on our bodily integrity? “My body, my choice”, whoever thought that these words would ever be obsolete?

Of course, the premise in Crutchfield’s article is that every single human being on earth would be given “bioenhancement”. But we know that this is not the plan of the transhumanists. After all, some do not “deserve” it. [See TRANSHUMANISM: IMMORTALITY FOR THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD IT and RADICAL LIFE EXTENSION IS NOT MEANT FOR EVERYBODY].
