The US may have the two highest powered supercomputers in the world but China has 219 supercomputers operating within its ranks, compared to only 116 of the US. Each of these super computers are used for power-intensive programs such as those needed in quantum physics simulations, testing the hypotheses of astrophysics, and of course, AI development.
