Rahnama is confident that we’ll eventually accept the digital afterlife. He is a visiting faculty member at MIT’s Media Lab and an entrepreneur and researcher headquartered at Ryerson University in Toronto. He is developing an application called Augmented Eternity that allows you to establish a digital identity that can communicate with others on your behalf after you pass away.
Editor’s Note: The ability to be able to do this is entertaining in the least, and sentimental at most. However, the complexity of the human personality cannot be simply captured by algorithms. The religion of “dataism” would want to reduce human beings as hackable animals but there is so much more to being human than simply quantitative data.
