Boston Dynamics’ Spot raises issues on the future of robotic law enforcement

The police force of Massachusetts is slowly trusting their robotic comrades. Is it time to create laws to regulate the use of robots in law enforcement?

How much oversight should there be over police robotics programs? This question was recently raised following the test conducted by the Massachusetts State Police if Boston Dynamics’ dog-like robot called Spot. While Spot was not designed to be weaponized, activists are  adamant that they could still be used to physically harm people. Moreover, the lack of transparency the lack of an oversight body that regulates the use of such technology are huge concerns.
