Despite the recent manifesto of the Future of Life Institute and a letter sent to the United Nations calling for the ban of the creation of AI weapons, the US Defense Department has recently announced that it would spend up to $2 billion over five years in order to create an AI weapons system that is trusted and accepted by its military commanders.
