Open source apps have their disadvantages. Here’s one that has military implications.

It was just last June 2019 when Microsoft was forced to take down the MS Celeb facial recognition dataset following a report stating that the datasets are being used to develop surveillance systems both in the US and China. MS Caleb was released as open source in order to expand the data set.

The article also pointed out issues in other datasets being used in training facial recognition software.
