In 2016, Chris Dixon wrote an article for Medium which forecasted the different kinds of technology that will be available to future generations. When Dixon wrote this article, he was looking at a technological cycle of 10-15 years. Today in 2018, we see that a number of the technologies he mentioned are no longer in their gestation stage, but are already being used daily.
Implications for AI
Based on this article by Chris Dixon, one can already see that the technological cycle of 10-15 years is no longer applicable. Innovations to product are released almost every year, and we are at a point in time where our technological capacity will move at a pace faster than Moore’s Law. The technology to build an artificial general intelligence is already here, but the ethical and moral basis for this development has not yet been realized.
