In this 1995 article published by Wired Magazine, we are introduced to the visionary ideas of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and how such ideas permeate both the natural and human sciences. Chardin saw the world to be connected in a vast, pulsating web, with each plant, animal, and rock connected to the much larger consciousness of a divine origin. Chardin’s work enables us to understand evolution in its deepest sense, as well as help us see the purpose and limits of materialism in the sciences.
