1 min readHow reincarnation challenges scientific materialism

Science has a big problem – a part of who we are as human beings cannot be determined by our genes.

In this 2017 article for the journal Religions, Ted Christopher looks at some evidences of reincarnation and explains how this phenomena can challenge scientific materialism. Christopher says that when a taboo phenomena, for example, near death experience or remote viewing, gains popular attention, scientists and skeptics launch a counterattack to disprove the phenomena.

Christopher says that this is the reason why materialist science has become dominant – it effectively ignores information that challenges the generally accepted worldview. He stresses that if there is an unusual phenomena that could turn the the scientific community into believers, it would be the careful consideration of the missing heritability problem.
